Honoka In Color

There is perhaps a little poetry that my 100th post ends up being something like this...

I wasn't expecting that I would be able to get this far with this particular project, what with juggling a number of other projects at the same time. Nevertheless, I was able to take a couple techniques for a spin and it turned out as you see here.

As you may recall I shared the lineart for this one last week; my original character Honoka Warashi. She is part Inari spirit (yes, specifically Inari for those wondering/know the difference). As part of her story, she is living in the "real" world with her sister before a retainer of the kingdom of Ina-Kits of the World of C comes to take her back to be placed on the throne of Ina-Kits. The kingdom holds several treasures, at least two of which directly resonate with her.

The first (not pictured) is the Feathered Robe. The mantle and proof or rite of the ruler of Ina-Kits, it causes a modest transformation in Honoka that allows her to grow several tails and a set of fox ears.

The second is the mask she is holding. Given to the first ruler of Ina-Kits when the kingdom was founded, it causes a transformation in Honoka's eyes, adding a golden ring - which can be seen in her right eye here around her normal brown eye. It also causes her hair to change color - Honoka's natural hair color is violet (closer to a wisteria-like color similar to the sash/bow). She need not actually wear the mask as long as it is near her head (placed to the side for example) and once she has trained her powers more should be able to transform without it, hence the partial transformation despite only holding the mask away from her face.

I chose to render her in this form first because it both allows me to display a couple of her transformed features, but also clearly show what she looks like normally. I haven't settled on a design for her with the feathered robe, mainly in terms of how to design the feathered robe; a fox mask is simple.

I will have this one up on DeviantArt and Minitokyo by around noon Eastern, at which time the relative links will be up and running. Tips/comments/critiques are welcomed!!
