Solar Vita - The Names and Places of First Sun

The First Sun Saga, particularly at its outset, has a lot of stuff going on. Some of it is definitely more meta fan-fiction based than others. But at the heart, it's all about my original goal - merging the worlds of various interesting anime/manga/games I've experienced.
As I mentioned yesterday, First Sun is primarily driven by the world of two Sunrise products - Code Geass, and Gundam.

For the most part, the inclusion of the Geass franchise centers on the Britannia family. Most, if not all, of the interactions with the Geass story are told from an alternate perspective to the anime, showing instead a view of the Black Knights as just a small portion of the overall scheme of things that Britannia has to deal with. This perspective is achieved by telling the story from the view of Britannia's monarch. Events deviate in many areas, however. Due to events predating the start of the story, Lelouch and Nunnally are not banished, assumed dead, from their young age. Marianne is not dead either. As a result, Lelouch's rise to the leader of the Black Knights is prompted by different actions. At the start of the story, he is attending a prestigious academy in Japan as one of the princes of the Britannia Empire, alongside his sister Nunnally, as well as a number of children of prominent individuals from far and wide.

Among the schoolmates is Battler and Ange Ushiromiya. Here, Ange and Battler are only a couple years apart in age, rather than the decade or so in Umineko no Naku Koro Ni. I use Ange here, but the overall character she plays in my story is inspired by Rahzel Adanis from the Hatenkou Yuugi series, and Fate/Stay's Tohsaka Rin mixed in. The events of the Rokkenjima incident are reduced to a few chapters of overview, meant more to setup the appearance of Beatrice. The twist here is that "Beatrice" is not the Beatrice you know from Umineko. Instead, the Golden Witch Beatrice is C.C. The Beatrice of Umineko is instead Battler and Ange's mother. I'll explain more about that tomorrow.

Later in the first book, I introduce a few characters from the Gundam franchise. As part of an overall introduction of the existence of space colonies ruled by Britannia, I bring in Athrun Zala and Lunamaria Hawke from Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny. At the moment I don't plan on them carrying the baggage of their source-material selves (so no Lacus, no Meer, no Kira, no Shinn). I also bring in Char (more in his Char's Counterattack persona) and Nanai. A bit more of their baggage comes in, but key parts do not, such as Amuro and the overall Newtype angle. Due to the way I crafted the merger of the Gundam universe and the Geass universe, and how I managed to get them to intertwine, the Zabis are also around, at least in the initial stages, a part of the story will be Char's plan for vengeance against the Zabi family. Char will still hold facets of his Newtype ideology, but it will be basically in the absence of the concept of Newtypes.

Along the way in traversing the first part of First Sun, there are also characters from Rosario+Vampire, BlazBlue, Fate/Stay Night, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Bleach, who will make appearances or be mentioned, with varying degrees of importance of their source story to this one.

When the story shifts to the World of C portion, the cast expands even further to include characters from One Piece, Fairy Tail, Durarara, Nurarihyon no Mago, Queen's Blade, Ikkitousen, and Koihime Musou, as well as the mangas, Cynthia the Mission, Mahou Tsukai Kurohime, and Kamisama Hajimemashita.

This doesn't even get into the reappearance of various Rosencraft family members. How does this all work? I'll get a little more into that when I explain the World of C on Thursday.

For now, that's all I've got. Tomorrow I'll get into a couple of the odder character choices and quirks.
