Progress Report on B.O.T.S

So, I figure I'd give an update and some clarification on the book and project that is the Book of the Shadows.

As I mentioned in my earliest posts, the meta series consists of several sub-series, each connected by one means or another.

The first book series within the first saga is simply called Book of the Shadows. The books in this saga are intentionally preset at thirteen chapters. At present, I've finished 6 books in that series, and I've been working on chapter 89 of the 7th book.

There is a second and third book series within the first saga (First Moon Saga), but while I have planned out the series in general, I haven't written anything out in terms of full chapters - just a bunch of little story fragments.

There is the "side story" Cromwell Universe. It takes place generally simultaneous to, but separate from, the First Moon saga. It's got about 5 chapters done, but it will likely see more progress than anything else over the next six months because of the relative simplicity in writing it.

Next, there is the First Sun Saga. I have been working on it most recently, building up the story fragments and compiling these into concrete story and chapters. It has about 3 chapters done now and will have probably seven or eight over the next six months.

In all, the completed Book of the Shadows meta series will consist of a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Moon, Sun, and Stars saga. The number of books/sub-series within each saga will differ, and at least two of the sagas have absolutely no work on them yet.

In general it may be an ambitious idea that I can even complete such a massive story. As it stands I don't exactly have the skills, focus, or time to complete such a large story. But, this all started as a hobby in the first place, so as long as I have any free time I can keep moving forward bit by bit.

Part of what has taken up some of that free time of late has been working on the website that will host all this stuff.

I am no computer expert. I know a lot, but most of it is academic through self-directed intrigue, not formal study, and generally on the hardware side of things. That means I have two options when building a website - go with one of those website development services, or teach myself how to do it. Long story short, I tried option one, didn't like how it was going, so I switched to option two.

I understand the coding pretty much. I have a host picked out, and I have a domain name chosen too. I've been tweaking my layout a bit, but the biggest unresolved question I've been tackling has been how to handle the format for hosting the various chapters. Looking at a wall of text is not particularly appealing, but there isn't a whole lot of alternative options.

Another time consumer has been artwork. I have always liked to draw. I am relatively decent at it. Some of the characters in my story have received an artistic touch. Image hosting is much easier to do. So that part of the website has been a breeze, relatively speaking. To preview one of those art-pieces, look no further than my June 21 post.

So, the process is moving forward. It's a little slower than I hoped. I still can't give a firm date on when I will fully launch the website, but I will definitely give a heads up when it's closer to completion.
