Character Image Intro - Drusilla Arenzai

As I promised yesterday, today I've got an image to roll out for Drusilla Arenzai. Like in the past, this is a black and white line-art piece that I will be adding color to in the near future.

Now it may seem that I am giving a lot of attention to Drusilla and there are two reasons for that. First, she is a prominent character in the story that I will be posting on FanFiction.net before too long. The second is because I've probably had the most fun with her as a character. For a little perspective, I have either written or planned out fourteen different stories. Drusilla appears in one form or fashion in six of them. At the moment Anzu is the only one who appears more often, her place as the linchpin between the various stories being the catalyst for her appearing in almost every one.

Drusilla Arenzai
This is the first picture of Drusilla I ever drew - well, not literally the first since it was this on graph paper, but you get the idea. Below you will see a part of the image on which Drusilla's was based.

The woman in the color image below is an unnamed, anime style character. Back in the day (circa 2003-2004) I often trolled the internet for images and information about a variety of anime and their characters. That was in the days before the filters were default and any decent. That meant it was easier to stumble upon more mature content. Something that hasn't changed much is the fact that a lot the sites that host a massive number of images tend to rely on advertisement by sites hosting mature content behind pay-walls. She was on one of those ads.

I did once have a digital copy of a full body picture of her in high resolution as she was seen in the ad. Unfortunately three things later happened. First, I was never able to figure out who the artist was. Second, I didn't keep accurate record of the specific place I found the image - bad move on my part not keeping that information offline somewhere. Finally, I had a series of PC failures a few years ago. In the backing up and recovering of the data, I ended up losing several files (mostly music), including a few image files. Hers was one of them. Most of the others I was able to recover, but hers was much more difficult to find.

Thank goodness for Google's image search function that lets you search by a specific image. I was able to take this little one above, search by it, and find back a full view version. The only downside is that the one I found is not quite at the same resolution as the original one I used to have (the one I have now is only 398x750). So, if you happen to come across this one in a larger size, or know where I can go to get it, that would be appreciated. It's not a big deal though, as the one I have is adequate for my purposes. I would, however, love it if someone happened to know for certain if this character comes from any anime/manga/visual novel/game, or the name of the artist who created the original. That would be very much appreciated.

Now, other notes about my cosplay for her... as you can tell even by just the small image here, it is mainly just a cosplay piece. The dress Drusilla is wearing is a take on the outfit worn by Len in the Tsukihime franchise by Type-Moon. Why? At the time I had been considering for Drusilla's introduction into the story a scene where she travels to an icy mountain with Yami and the Rosencraft and tames a dragon. I wanted my first picture of her to reflect something kind of stylish yet unencumbered (not a lot of fancy patterns and complex design) and fitting for that backdrop. This seemed to fit nicely. Unfortunately I later rewrote that particular scene and it no longer takes place on any icy mountain so while it does still look nice on her, it isn't a fit for the intended scene anymore.

Nevertheless this is Drusilla Arenzai, the leader of the Arenzai family. The line-art scan will be placed on DeviantArt.com. Sorry if you like Minitokyo.net, but they're very sensitive of people posting line-art and the same piece colored, so I won't be posting any of the line-art there (may reconsider posting anything there at all in the future for other reasons). I will at some point color this one, but that is not really imminent because I have another of Drusilla that I am more interested in working with first. I will likely retain the reference image's color palette most likely. I might do something different with her eye color.

Thanks again for taking a look.
