Serina Arenzai of the Second Star

I had promised that I would get my Serina picture up today. That proved a little more difficult than anticipated, but I did get it done for the most part.
I'll tell you a quick thing about me and drawing. One of my weak points is scale. Not so much within an image; I can manage that fairly well. But when it comes to the conceptual phase of designing an entire image, and actually drawing it out, I usually end up far larger than intended. As a result a picture that was intended to take up a single page of my art pad ends up taking up four.

That was the case with the Serina picture I'm sharing today. Actually, to be more accurate, I planned originally on a three page spread if you count what the final version is supposed to look like, but it's going to end up being eight. Which is fine enough for just drawing stuff, but when it comes to scanning it and compiling it all, it gets to be a bit of a pain. Stuff doesn't line up right, edges don't scan well, it all becomes a bit troubling. After much work, it looks like I managed to work things out halfway decent for now, though I will have to rework things when I get to the final version.

Nevertheless, here she is;

Serina never knew her father because he died in a traffic accident less than a week after Serina was just conceived. Many describe Serina as very trite, authoritative, and very much accustomed to acting the role of a princess. She tends to easily throw people off with her unflappable persona and incredible charm, but note that she can be difficult and frightening to get along with.

Serina's father was of mostly German descent, and so Serina herself is part German. Her mother says that is probably why she has silvery-white hair and blue eyes. Serina has been vague as to where it is she and her mother have lived until now, though she suggests it was a cold place and may very well be a more northern part of Germany. Serina goes to Japan seeking out the Romanov descendant, the great grandchild of Anastasia Romanov. She wouldn't tell this to Anastasia Kurae for some time. Serina wants to take advantage of the reformist revolution in Russia that is calling for a return to the old Romanov monarchy, installing Anastasia and herself as the Tsaritsa's of a new imperial Russia, and use that as a stepping stone to unite the entire planet under their joint rule. She's said that she has no interest in doing it if Anastasia doesn't want to go along with it and since revealing these plans has only gently pushed the idea to her every now and then, usually when Anastasia herself brings it up.

When Serina first arrived at the school she was not readily accepted. Many were struck by her looks and were too shy to approach, and those that did approach her were rebuked rather coldly by her. Some began to spread nasty rumors about her which she only brushed off. The ones who started the rumors at some point all got into fairly serious accidents, leading to another myth that Serina had somehow placed a curse on them all. More people started to fear her when she and Anastasia began getting along during the second semester, Anastasia having a similar reputation previously which led to many respecting her a great deal.

Drusilla is rich and gives her daughter anything she wants. As a result Serina has a somewhat cavalier money sense. She doesn't flaunt her expensive clothes and accessories, only because she treats and thinks of them like anyone would any normal set of clothes. That being said, she takes interests in rather plain things. Her favorite times seem to be hanging out with Anastasia at the restaurant where Anastasia works part-time. Although usually giving off a cold, sinister, feeling, Serina can be quite warm and joyous when she wants to be. She is a bit picky about who she associates with. She doesn't hold her tongue for anyone and plainly wears her heart on her sleeve. She claims that the thing she hates the most is lying. Though she is usually very open about her feelings, she does harbor her own sets of personal doubts, often times comparing herself to her mother and feeling that she can't quite match up to her. Ironically, she has all the confidence in the world that she has the capability to rule the entire planet.

That is it for Serina. Tomorrow I'll be talking about a bunch of different details. I'm still on track for the Friday launch of the story, so hopefully everything pans out alright. See you tomorrow.
