And... Published
So, not too long after my last post, some rough weather moved through the area. Winds were a bit gusty, lots of lightning, and that usually means power is a fleeting commodity. So, with no power for a bit, I couldn't get to the files for the stories, let alone fanfiction.net to post them.
But all's well and good now. The new stories are up and ready to read, so I'll do a quick rundown.
First, we've got two chapters from Book of the Shadows, First Moon Saga, Book III - Legendary Gauntlet. The numbering is chapters 27 and 28. It is a direct continuation of where Book II left off. Pay particularly close attention to chapter 27. That is because, while it is the longest of the two by far, it is also very important to the series going forward. That won't be immediately evident, but it is certainly going to come up again later on down the road. The much shorter chapter 28 is important for its own reasons as well, and those are addressed much sooner, though not in the next handful of chapters exactly. You can start reading them HERE.
The next story shared today is the continuation of the Book of Cromwell, one of the Looking Glass alternate universes. I am sharing chapter 2 which continues from where chapter 1 left off via a bit of reflective story telling and a minor time skip. Chapters 1 and 2 essentially serve as a split introduction to the series as a whole. Chapter 1 and the first half of chapter 2 are setup as introduction to the situation and the world, but the second half of chapter 2 is the establishment of my two main characters and their personalities. It's not a lengthy read. You can get to it HERE.
Finally is the launch of First Star Saga, 1st Nova, Book I - Starlight Awakening. This story follows the queen of the Twilight Kingdom, Midna Celestine-Reinsworth. Years ago when she was a child there was a massacre at her family's estate leaving her as the only confirmed survivor, and her elder sister missing. That sister, Marianne, is accused of perpetrating the massacre. Now, Midna is ruler of the kingdom and events unfolding seem to not only link back to that massacre, but to the Twilight Precursor, the event that gave rise to the Twilight Kingdom in the first place. Chapter 1 mostly details a recurring dream that Midna has of that night when she was a child. It accounts the full measure of what Midna herself recalls of the incident. The very end of the chapter is a tease of the various characters that will later appear throughout the story, and the events around which the story will take place. You can start reading that story HERE.
Thanks for the patience as I tried to get everything out the door today. Bad weather day notwithstanding, everything's about done now. Now to take a break... catch you next week.
