Character Intro - Yami Rosencraft
It turned out a little oddly that I would introduce Yami now considering who he is within the B.O.T.S. So, this week I plan to do a new character intro every day. To make up for lost time, I'll start with Yami. I'll cover Yugi tomorrow, then May and Sisi on Wednesday, Kenshin and Runa in Thursday, and Noa and Lafiel on Friday. So now, Yami...
Yami Atem Rosencraft is the current head of the Rosencraft family, a direct descendant of the founders of the Rosencraft family, Alexander and Anastacia Rosencraft, the same as Anzu and Rini. His father was Yamiyugi "Yamu" Rosencraft, and his mother was Teana Rosencraft.
As the son of planet Earth's savior during the Shadow Beast rampages, Yami was surprisingly not born specifically with the idea of the Pharaoh's throne in mind. The position of the Pharaoh was specially created after Yamu's exploits, and as such many of its rules and guidelines were still in flux by the time Yami was born.
Nevertheless, the throne of the Shadow Realm was always Yami's to hold, and he was groomed for it from the beginning. Even so, it was not by some all consuming zeal for a successor that Yami was raised. He was a mostly normal child, though he was taught magic somewhat vigorously simply due to the potential he held for being unable to control his powers as he grew older.
Whether he wanted the throne or not, it was thrust upon him suddenly. When his parents were killed before his eyes at the age of twelve, just a month and a half from his thirteenth birthday, Yami felt the burden of power - the knowledge that there were those who looked at him as the same kind of force, power, and guidepost, as his famed father.
That also came with the downside associated with such status; the enemies you must face and the responsibility that you place ahead of your own desires. Only days after his parent's death, Yami is named the successor to the position of Pharaoh on Earth, his throne in the Shadow Realm conveyed on the day of his parent's death.
Yami would rule for several years, shuttling himself back and forth between Earth and the Shadow Realm as needed/possible in the management of the two world's governments. After 25 years on Earth's throne, Yami uses an attempted assassination as cover to fake his own death so he might abdicate the position of Pharaoh and focus his attention in the Shadow Realm. It is six years later when a plot is made in the Shadow Realm to steal his Shadow Item, the Shadow Pyramid. In this incident a complex curse is activated. By way of the curse, Yami and the other holders of the Shadow Items are all eventually sealed in their respective items, each with varying conditions for revival.
It takes over 13,000 years for Yami to revive, initially with spotty memory, but regaining his full memory after Yugi awakens to his powers.
Yami is generally rather measured in his words. He tends to keep a lot to himself out of a perceived obligation towards being a leader. He is not likely to complain about situations, even if he himself is struggling with finding the answer. However, he is very intelligent, and does consult with others often, rather than blindly pushing ahead with his own ideas.
Despite his near identical appearance to Yugi, Yami is usually easily told apart from his younger protege, and is generally thought of as being the "cooler" of the two. Yami is regarded as the most powerful of the Rosencraft family, though he is somewhat modest in his estimation of his abilities. He possesses many unique blood traits that allow for him to be considered in such high regard, including the Dragon Eyes. He is generally more proficient in many skills simply because his parents themselves were proficient in magic and could teach him. He notes in particular that Yugi will likely one day surpass him.
Of course, Yami A. Rosencraft is based off of the Pharaoh/Atem/Yamiyugi from the original Yu-Gi-Oh!, with my own little twists here and there.
Alright, that's if for Yami, unless anyone has any questions. Tomorrow will be Yugi.
Today's soundtrack is '90s music. This is today's sample track.
