Gathering of the Two-Six - Anzushiro
About twelve days ago I showed off an art project I had recently finished, as far as the drawing phase.
I'm still working on that one, trying to touch it up and make it look nice. But, today I would like to share a new one.
Like the last one, and as the title of this post states, this too is a part of the Gathering of the Two-Six series. This lovely creature is Anzushiro of the Two-Six. It's relatively easy to figure out who inspired this particular image, but in case you're not too familiar with her, it's Dark Magician Girl from the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise.
I won't get into too much detail about who Anzushiro is here now - check back tomorrow for that. I will say that she is a fairly important character in the Book of the Shadows series as a whole. Anzushiro was one of the very first characters that led to my starting the Book of the Shadows in the first place. I have done several images of her representing different periods of her life throughout the book series. This, however, matches with the picture series for Athena's, so I went with this one first.
I cleaned up the original drawing a little bit for the share and basically extracted solid line image in PaintShop. Like the Athena Hancock share almost two weeks ago, this is only a basic drawing, devoid of shading or color for now. The Dark Magician Girl is the basis for Anzushiro. The dress she is wearing in this image is based roughly on that of Marianne vi Britannia of Code Geass (pictured below). This is one of my most simplistic drawings in terms of composition, but as I said, Anzu is easily one of the most important characters to my story, and I just felt I should share her likeness sooner rather than later.
As you can see the design of Anzushiro's dress was meant to copy in part Marianne's, but I changed the top some to give it more ballgown feel. The concept of Gathering of the Two-Six, of which this image was the first, is that they are at a sort of festive event. While I want a formal feel, I didn't want it too formal and for it to have a slightly modernish touch.
As one might notice as well, Anzushiro's hair, though in the same general style as Dark Magician Girl, is a little longer. This is a function of her story, the common trope of longer hair being tied to an increase in power. In general long hair is often seen as a symbol of status, likely in no small part due to the effort needed to maintain hair of substantial length. Nevertheless this is neither the longest I've ever drawn Anzushiro's hair, nor is it the shortest, but this is usually about the average length I target for.
Obviously color makes a difference, and I will be adding color to this piece once I finish doing the same to the Athena piece. As per my outline for the character Anzushiro, her hair will be white (in case the name didn't give that away). Her eyes will likely either be an emerald green or a deep blue (oddly enough likely similar to the color of Marianne's dress in the above picture). Anzushiro's dress will likely follow a similar pink and blue color scheme to that of the Dark Magician Girl.
I hope to finish Athena's picture this week, and I'll begin on this one almost immediately after that. Hopefully I can produce some good results soon.
