Character Intro - Noa and Lafiel

Well, it's the final day of the week, and the start of August. Today is the last of the big rush of character intros with Noa and Lafiel. There are more introductions coming in the future, just not imminently. At any rate, I'll first remind that chapters 15 and 16 of Book II will go up at around 1:30 PM EST.
Noa Itchijouji is a genius among geniuses. Although all of the members of the Rosencraft family posses intelligence some level above average, Noa stands out as being particularly smart. He is able to develop and discuss many complex scientific theories, and has also helped to invent some of the Rosencraft's most spectacular non-magical items.

As a kid Noa liked to goof off a lot. Because he was so smart, he didn't have much need to apply himself for things like studying. He sailed through school and took to mischief as a means of alleviating his boredom. This helped him to stumble upon his powers sooner than most of the others, but he found little intrigue in them, instead focusing on science.

Noa was brought into the group of the Rosencraft by Yami. After discovering part of the truth of what Genosa II did through his experiments, Yami conducted a search for anyone involved, hoping to help them and understand the extent of these experiments. Noa was able to help a great deal with this.

Noa applied his talents in the Shadow Realm, more so than on Earth. He is head of the research and technology development division. Noting the fact that their powers, though great, are not infallible, Noa wanted to focus his efforts on creating things they could use in the event they couldn't rely on their powers. Once such invention was a interstellar ship, the Rosencraft flagship Phoenix Nirvana.

Lafiel Alexis Wainwright is the last of the members of the Rosencraft family. Her childhood is both quite similar and quite different from any of the others. Part of that is in the fact that no one met her until after their revival in modern times and her duel against Yugi in Runa's tournament.

Lafiel's family tree, like the others, intersects with the Rosencraft after some winding and branching off. However, her family was not connected to the government and had no knowledge of Lafiel's powers prior to the point when they began to manifest. Her parents were rather poor and treated her very poorly even before her powers began to manifest. When her powers did manifest, she had little control over them which in turd caused many accidents. That only led to them treating her worse. After one particularly bad incident in which she injured her mother who was trying to strike her, Lafiel was thrown out of her home.

Lafiel grew up on the streets for most of her life, stealing food and clothes as needed whenever she couldn't find a job. She is entirely self-educated as well, since her parents didn't even want to spend money or effort to send her to school public school. She learned to control her powers purely out of necessity to get by, believing that her powers were bad and led her parents to hate her.

Lafiel learned that not to be the case as she grew older, and came to appreciate her powers since they helped her to survive on her own. She was sealed like the other members of the Rosencraft. Her Shadow Item was given to her by Yamiyugi while he was still alive. Not very long before his death, Yamu had been in contact with Lafiel's parents about her, but they didn't seem to care what he had to say. Nevertheless Yamu gave her a Shadow Item one day while she was home alone. It was one of the few things she had when she left home.

Lafiel is very strategic minded. She describes her life growing up alone as a battlefield. She tends to be a bit impulsive and quick tempered. While these later qualities would suggest otherwise, she eventually takes on the role of military director for the Rosencraft, which oddly enough tends to place her more often in the role of negotiator as opposed to fighter. There happens to be a princess of a planet far from Earth who looks identical to Lafiel.

So, that's that for Lafiel and Noa. My 50th post rolls around Monday, and I'll be discussing some more stuff about B.O.T.S. I'll have a few more political and social commentary posts next week too, so look forward to that.

Today's soundtrack was dance music. I say dance, but in general it's supposed to be music to get you pumped for the weekend. This song could just as well be a B.O.T.S theme song.
