Updates and Delays

Okay, I meant to come back to doing full, real content posts, this week (Tuesday), but there have been a number of issues. When your backup fails, and your backups backup fails, you find yourself in a technology abyss. After weeks and months of trying to patch things up without shelling out the cash I more or less knew I'd need to for it to get back to good.

It all came to a head over the Thanksgiving weekend. Basically, if you understand a little about computers, at the point where the BIOS functions/loading stops and the OS takes over, stuff stopped happening. It tried to load the OS and nothing happened. Of course, my Blu-Ray optical drive stopped playing DVDs and CDs months ago and I hoped to stick it out, but you can't run most Windows repairs without the install medium (I got the disc).

It all turned out to be a futile effort in terms of rendering straightforward repairs since the system drive (an SSD) went bad, therefore being the cause of many of the problems. The SSD going bad was what killed my original backup system (my 8-year old laptop). Luckily my actual backup (as in the drive I saved a copy of my files to) was alright, otherwise this could have been a disaster.

Long story short, while my system is mostly back up and running again, I still have work to do re-installing programs and drivers and whatnot, plus there is a lagging issue I'm still truing to remedy. But, the hope now is that I should be clear and free of any more computer problems for a good while.

That means, however, that I won't have enough time to devote to forming posts (I've been putting in more work hours lately too). So, I'll be back to posting at about Tuesday the 10th. I will be going on break again, however, the weeks of Christmas and New Years, so not a lot is getting done in December.

Take care till then. Later.
