Mana Anzai Art Project, Part 4

Today's post is a relatively quick one. Today, I'll be adding skin tone to Mana.
In some ways, skin tone is a relatively simple matter. Unlike synthetic matter such as clothes that can be any color under the rainbow, and to a slightly lesser extent hair which has become similarly diverse in coloration. But unless going specifically for an alien look or theme, skin tone is in a relatively narrow color field.

Even so, it can cause a bit of a stumble in terms of hitting the nail on the head. Unlike color on synthetic materials like clothes, you can't be off without it looking strange. For example, I could have made Mana's dress darker blue to the point it looked black, or lighter blue to the point it was barely any darker than the torso.

My first stab at Mana's skin tone came out like this;
It looks relatively good, but it has a bit too much yellow. If you want to be harsh about it, she almost looks to be sickly or had a bad fake tan. You either want to go for a lighter or darker complexion from where this one is. So, I went back the next day and this is the end result;
As you can see, this one looks a good deal more like a natural skin tone. All I did was add a little more red to the color I used before, then used the color replacer tool on the image. The color replacer tool in PaintShop is a really good tool. It's really an error free tool since it paints the new color only ontop of the one color you're trying to replace. You have no need to be accurate in painting the way you otherwise would.

So, as you can see the final parts are coming together. Tomorrow I will show the small items such as the book, the pointer, and the glasses. These are really simple. Hope to see you again tomorrow.
