Of The Two-Six

It's been a while since I've posted on this blog. This one will be much like the good old days; some info about a new art piece I've completed.
So, a bit of bad news to start off. Usually by now folks would be expecting me to talk about another entry into my Beach Day in Cromwell series of images. Unfortunately, I won't have the next entry done in time It's close, honestly, but not close enough. So, i'll just have to hold back on it until next year. Or, I might do it for Christmas this year- i'm not sure yet.

The good news is that I have three other projects I will be releasing in the next few months. These three are complete, so it's just a matter of timing. The first one will be for the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day. The other two are Halloween projects (not by design).

Of the three, two are part of the Gathering of the Two-Six project. It's been some time since I last completed one of these images, and it so happened that in the last year I was able to finish two. I got close on a third, but I might be reworking an element or two of that one, so it paused a bit. I should be able to finish it some time next year.

At any rate, this upcoming release is one I'm particularly happy I can get to; Nehellenia. She is quietly one of my favorite stories because it has such a subdued and heartwarming touch to it. I tell her story in the back half of the First Star Saga, where her initial role seems quite minor and trite until she's pulled into the events of that universe. I actually allude to her existence in parts of the First Moon Saga (you would know that IF I ever got to the point of writing and releasing more of that story).

Her original anime/manga story is one I only have a limited appreciation of due to the fact that I only really know of it through blurbs and synopsis from other folks, not through my own exposure to it. Sadly, both the original English release of the Sailor Moon series, and the Crystal reboot, failed to make it that far. Even so, due to the story beats of the series from which she originates, there are details that I feel I could parse out effectively enough.

At the end of the day, however, the person she is in my BotS story and the one she embodies in her original tale are not the same being. Not as dramatic a difference as Artoria and King Arthur, but it might be useful to think about all of the Two-Six in such terms. Part of that is because my Nell is the reborn Nell.

So, spoilers for those who don't know, Nehellenia's story follows a very similar track to Hotaru Tomoe's, complete with an end-of-arc revival. My story changes up just a bit of that ending to make way for her to be in it.

That's all for now. I'll drop the image on Monday, and I'll do the background story on Nehellenia of the Two-Six on Sunday, so stay tuned.
