The Book of the Shadows

Drum roll please... the unveiling of the top project for this anniversary weekend...

I wasn’t sure going into the end of 2015 that I would be able to either come up with an idea for a project, or complete a project, in time for Valentine’s Day this year. But, as it is seldom seen, I did stumble into a minor project of sorts.

So I screwed up a little. The post that went up Thursday was supposed to be scheduled for today (Friday). At any rate, the facts of the post remain true, that being I've gone ahead an updated the Second Star Saga Book with a new chapter - Chapter 4: Liberation. It's live here  on FanFiction.net. I've probably only mentioned the First Star Saga a couple of times in the past with no real detail or anything of the sort. But it is one of the more complex and ambitious of the stories I've worked on mainly because of the effort I have put into making it so.

I don't like art in the way people who go to museums like art. You couldn't ask me to describe the artistic motif or the use of color or the use of brush strokes, pen strokes, or what have you in any piece of art. I don't tend to see things like that with the depth to comment on quality or utility. But I do like art in the abstract (not necessarily abstract art). I can appreciate art in the aesthetic sense, even if I can't get into it in a technical sense. I feel that is what makes the difference between me being a decent, above average artist, and me being a really good artist. There is a website where people with much more talent and creativity than me submit their work. Okay, actually there are several websites like that, but this one is one of my favorites. It is called Minitokyo.net , and it is focused on anime, video game, and manga artwork. Much of the work there is free to download, and I have in the past used a number of pieces for wallpapers on my desktop....

It's been a few weeks since I launched this blog, and I was intending to have website up and ready to go already. But alas there have been a few setbacks so I'll have to hold off on that for now. I can't at this point make any promises about when I'll actually get things going, but at the moment it doesn't seem I'll be able to do it for at least a couple more weeks. Oh well, that's the way things go sometimes. So for now I'll tease a little more about the actual story that this is all working around. I should have mentioned in one of my early posts that there are several themes that are at the heart of the series of stories I have molded. The starting point, however, is the concepts invoked by the characters within the story. I approach characters for my story in a very direct manner. How are you readers doing out there. This is my second post, so I thought I’d get a little into that title of my blog a little. The Book of the Shadows originates from an idea that is relatively generic. I mentioned in the introductory post what a fan-fiction is. I also mentioned the terms “doujin” and “doujinshi”. Again, I won’t go into the details about the difference between those two terms specifically, but in general they are microcosms of the larger umbrella term of fan-fiction. The difference for between regular fan-fiction and doujin is that, aside from referring in general to Japanese media, doujins are more like fan comics. In the same way a manga is a story overlaid on images that represent that story, a doujin is the same thing, just written by a an amateur as unofficial extension of another story.
