More Information on Cromwell

Well, chapter one of the Book of Cromwell has been up for a weekend now. A few people have checked it out already (Thanks, hope you've enjoyed). I am sure there are bits that don't make a lot of sense, so I'm here to clear away the confusion a bit.
The first thing I'll say is that I won't be giving out too much detail. Part of the fun, after all, is supposed to be the reveal. As I noted last week in the lead up to the publication, Cromwell Universe is a spin-off of sorts from the First Moon Saga. It is a take on how things might play out under slightly different circumstances.

The first bit you're probably wondering after reading the fist chapter is when, relative to First Moon, this all takes place. Well, at this point I've only published the first two books (26 chapters) of First Moon. It ostensibly takes place at about the point in time where Book II of the First Moon Saga ends. The details of events are different, but the timing is more or less equal.

This lends to why I chose to start publishing Book of Cromwell, as the end of Book II of First Moon is the divergence point. There is definitely more of First Moon on the way, but its direction is very different.

I qualify that assertion by noting the timing based on events is equal, but the timing based on space-time are separated by several years. I state this because while it is, in a literary sense, a what-if story, in the macro scheme of the Book of the Shadows epic, Cromwell takes place in a separate universe that exists concurrently to that of the First Moon saga, the Anzushiro Universe. There is a crossover event that links the Anzushiro and Cromwell Universes, the timing of that event establishing the relative chronological difference. To simplify then, there is an event in the Anzushiro Universe that is all but identical and coincides with an event in the Cromwell Universe, the time difference between the two being several years.

So next, the name. As I said, there are coinciding events. Namely, that event is the attack which leads to Tea spawning her Soul Fragments. The battle that occurs which leads to Tea nearly dying and thereby spawning Soul Fragments happens several years earlier in the Cromwell Universe than it does in the Anzushiro Universe (indirectly making the Cromwell Universe older). In the Cromwell Universe one of Tea's Soul Fragments survives. Her name is Ren Cromwell. As you know from Cromwell chapter 1, Tea is dead by the time the story gets under way. As you may recall from my definition on Soul Fragments, they become independent beings once they are spawned, thus while Tea may be dead, Ren continues to live on. She eventually leaves her home universe and makes her way to the Anzushiro Universe. That event is covered in a later book for First Moon. But it isn't addressed in Cromwell, which is why I'm explaining it here.

At any rate, I began naming the respective universes based on a rather random convention that simply denotes an individual or name of importance. The universe of the First Moon Saga is Anzushiro. The Book of Cromwell is the Cromwell universe, named for Ren Cromwell whose story in First Moon got me to start it. First Sun Saga takes place in the C universe, C being the name of one of two dimensions the story primarily takes place in.

Finally for today, a couple teasers of sorts. The image to the right here is from a Code Geass calendar from I think 2012. First teaser, one of the two of them will be appearing in this story, Book of Cromwell, at some point. If you've paid very close attention to everything I've told you about the Book of the Shadows you can probably figure out which of the two it would most likely be. If not, you've got a 50/50 chance.

Second teaser, I am in the process of adapting this image right now to depict Drusilla and Yugi instead of Cornelia and Lelouch. I can say this much, the Yugi/Drusilla pairing is a lot easier to wrap your head around than the debauchery of the Cornelia/Lelouch pairing, not to mention the sheer improbability of there even being such a possibility from the series given she doesn't even know he's alive for much of the show and/or is herself in hiding. At any rate, my version will be slightly less... suggestive, than its inspiration. Not sure when I'll have time to finish it up, but I hope to make it the cover of Book of Cromwell.

Well, that's all today. Until next time.
