New Presents on Halloween
Hey folks, it's been a while. I bring word of good fortune on the horizon - new art and new writings.
So, tomorrow is Halloween. I long since passed the age for trick-or-treating, there won't be any of that for me. On top of that I actually have work tomorrow too, so I'll be just passing the day at work, and stuffing my face with leftover sweets tomorrow night. Which is fine since I don't do the partying thing anyway. I'll probably marathon a decent horror-type anime. I've got it down to either Blood-C or Shiki, leaning towards Shiki.
Anyway, if I don't mess things up, I plan on doing about four reveals/releases tomorrow before I have to get in to work. If that timing fails, I hope to still get it done before midnight, just to keep with the theme of the holiday.
Release one is simple; an updated, colored, version of last year's Halloween share, which you may recall was C.C of Code Geass dressed as Lilith/Eve of the anime and visual novel, Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito. I won't have the lighting effects done in time, but I think it'll be a fine looking piece nonetheless.
The second release is another of the Halloween specials I promised earlier in the month, the next chapter of the Book of Cromwell. If you remember, that story is an alternate universe telling of the story of Yugi Asakura's life, where he winds up travelling with a Drusilla Arenzai, Empress of the Arenzai Empire. Given the subject matter across the series as a whole it wouldn't be hard to stretch a little and come up with some random reason to make any given chapter a Halloween special release. But, by pure chance of it having already been the next chapter in that book, we have a (rather muted) horror tale in this next chapter. Yugi and Drusilla wind up in a mansion with almost all of their powers stripped and a vanishing ax-wielder trying to kill them. You don't need to guess too hard where the story comes from if you know enough manga or anime. The chapter title itself gives it away too.
Last, and the true surprise, is a new book series - Third Moon Saga, Book One - Blood & Water. This story is my best one yet, originally developed in 2012. Overall the story is a more brutal one in terms of its final conclusion. I say that not only because of the body count that racks up, but because of how events transpire leading up to that body count.
Inori is based in appearance, and a few mannerisms and character traits, on Inori of Guilty Crown. It was for her, more or less, that I created this story. I don't want to spoil too much more until people have had a chance to read it, but in due time I will get into a full accounting of the inspiration sources that forge this story. They are plentiful and somewhat varied if in tone not tenor.
I will put up the first two chapters of Third Moon as well, as these opening chapters have a very definite horror story feel to them. It's a good opening to the series.
So, check back tomorrow for the official announcement, and I'll wish you an early happy and safe Halloween. Until next time.
